Sensory

Sensory stimulation and relaxation is an important part of our care, as this helps the development of motor skills, learning, language, and social interaction. Our sensory play involves activities that are designed to stimulate the senses of sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, sense of balance (vestibular), and the sense of where each body part is in relation to the rest of the body (proprioceptive).

Focussed Activities

Musical expression is encouraged and provides a unique and entertaining dimension to sensory play. Using the TACPAC™ method we draw together touch and music in a structured 30 minute sensory session with communication between a client and a carer. This creates sensory alignment and helps with sensory impairment, developmental delay, complex learning difficulties, tactile defensiveness, and limited or pre-verbal levels of communication.

Free Activities

Artistic creativity presents an alternative to verbal communication and its unique therapeutic quality is fostered as this can address Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), improve sensory, social and emotional functioning. Art therapy is an excellent treatment for autism because it is inherently reinforcing. Clients experience enjoyment, stress relief, and increased self-confidence from tackling art projects and by simply exploring the potential of the various artistic materials.
